Man-Man: Chapter 15

Okay, I’m not sure where my head was at back in ’05, but I’m starting to feel actively lazy at this point. James flies solo on this short chapter, and does a great job of handling the typewriter stuff as well as the pen stuff.

As somebody who’s followed James’ career for well over 20 years, he’s got a keen grip on the balance between straight comedy and the grim, introspective side of life — there’s a lot of Don Hembeck in the art, but a lot of Dave Berg in the writing, if you’re an old-school Mad Magazine fan like I am. It’s great to see that sensibility carried forward into the surreal excesses of the Maniverse.
