Booze & Bacon 2010 is GO: November 20, 2010!
To enthuse you, I drew a picture of an amazed man and a slightly worried pig summarizing the event as planned to date. Gaze upon my art in wonder!

Here's the drill:
Show up at my place at 5 p.m. You're expected to bring ("you" being a single person or a couple, but couples can double up if they want):
One bacon-themed dish. This can be a casserole or pasta or baked goods or even just cooked bacon. As long as it *features bacon,* we're good.
Six bottles of a beer that you've chosen to pair with the bacon-themed dish. For those of you that don't watch Top Chef as obsessively as Marisa and I, "pairing" just means "goes real good with." So if you're making some sort of hearty bacony rye bread, a stout might be a good idea. A light pilsner to roll with that pasta dish might work well. You get the drift.
When you arrive, take your dish behind the Curtain of Secrecy where I'll give the pairing a number. The idea is to have a kind of lazy-assed confidentiality where people will vote on their favourite pairing without necessarily knowing who made what. Don't expect incredible rigour here.
At 5:30 we lay out the pairings -- food and beer -- as well as a considerable amount of disposable utensils, plates and cups. If you want to bring your own beer-tasting glass, feel free, and we'll feel free to call you Little Lord Fauntleroy and punch you in the stomach. Fair's fair.
Eat! Drink! Vote! Everyone gets a vote. The person with the most votes gets a prize. It will be a good prize. The winner of this prize will be a champion among humans; less so among swine.
Marisa & I have a pull-out couch, and a guest room, for out-of-towners.
This is a double-down event, as it occurs one week before Marisa's birthday, so we may toast her as well.
It is even a triple-down event, as it may be the last time we see some of y'all before Christmas!
Spread the word if there's somebody here I'm missing.
